Another Easter, and more candy than I can handle. Today, I found out that the power to our house somehow went off over the night, so when my alarm went off, I found out that the actual time was 6:30. Of course, I didn’t really know that until I was finished showering and clothed, and when I put my watch on, looked at it and realized that it was just turning to 7:00. Well, at least I was up early for 8:15 mass. So, the benefit of this was that I had the privelage of waking everyone else up in the house, and getting my shirt ironed.
We got to church, and the place was packed. I never knew people got up this early for 8:15 mass. I always thought that people were lazy and went to the 10:00 service. Well, I stand corrected. And, speaking of standing, due to the packed house, my family and I had to stand at the back of the church during the whole mass, which wasn’t that bad, except for after communion when a good one third of the church left. I will never understand the rationale for doing so - it’s only another two or three minutes. Are people really that busy on a Sunday that they have to leave directly after communion? I never see people do that at weekday masses. The nice thing was that, after mass, I saw some friends that I haven’t seen for about three years. They moved to Cincinatti, and are back for Easter to see relatives in KC. Come to think of it, I should have mentioned how Marquette is such a better basketball team than Cinci, but it slipped my mind at the time.
After mass, we went back to my house for a little rest up and then off to the Milburn Country Club to get a nice brunch and to drool over the dessert table, which featured about 15 different types of cakes, pies and a few other tasty goodies. My grandfather complained that he couldn’t get the ice cream out of the container, and I’m surprised he didn’t try harder, given the fact that usually nothing stands between him and his ice cream cravings.
Finally, now as I type this, it’s about time for dinner, and we’re all watching You’ve Got Mail, which is a wonderful movie. If you haven’t seen it yet, I suggest renting, or buying, which would be the better option, becuase when you see it, you will definitely want your own copy.
So, happy Easter to everyone, and I hope that your family and friends are doing well.
