AOL Sign On
Well, my latest goal has been to see how long I can stay signed into AOL Instant Messenger. Of course, this hefty goal requires my computer to be on for as long as I am signed in. This is, in my opinion, a great research opportunity into how Windows behaves when running for a while and hasn’t had a chance to restart. I know many people do this, and some people subscribe to the opinion that you should leave your computer on all the time, to avoid wear. So, I think it will be interested to see, according to those who subscribe to that theory, whether my computer will run better or have less wear. Of course, I subscribe to the theory that you should turn your computer off at night, for your memory to clear. That way, you get a fresh computer when it reboots. I know, I’m a geek.
Pepsi vs. Coke
So, my roommate and I frequently have debates about trivial things. This week’s one is whether Coke or Pepsi is better, hence the poll on the website. Personally, I like Pepsi better, but Greg seems to think that Coke is better. Of course, since this is my webpage, I can claim that he is wrong, because he doesn’t know about that “cool, crisp taste” that Pepsi brings to you. So, I just thought I would put up my ramblings about Pepsi and how it will soon usurp Coke as the beverage of choice.
Caffiene lotion means no skin cancer
Here’s a new one on me. Scientists have shown that when a lotion containing caffiene was rubbed on the skin of a mouse, it was protected from skin cancer. So, if you aren’t getting dehydrated enough at the beach, just put some caffiene on. Similar results were obtained using an extract from green tea as well. They always did say putting tea bags on your eyes removed wrinkles, now look what they can do!
World’s Worst College
CNN currently has an article talking about how the Princeton Review has ranked the University of Missouri-Rolla as one of the worst colleges in the US. However, students claim that it really is not that bad, and most seem quite happy. This raises a few interesting questions: How accurate do you think these rankings are? Did you use a college guide when looking, and was that your only source of college listings?
News that’s fit to print
I realized that I haven’t provided the regular visitors with some news to read, so I thought that I would put something up. (By the way, this is where you come in handy, submitting your own stuff, which will help me in my quest to add content.)
So, today was fun. I got up an extra hour early to get a good parking pass. When I reached the union, I realized that it wasn’t worth the four hour wait to get a pass just then, so I went back around 2:30, and got in and out within five minutes. It was better that way.So, instead of getting a parking pass, I decided to hop down to U.S. FirstBankStar, or whatever the name is now. (Five star service means five bucks!) And, because I was bored, I opened a checking account, and convinced the girl who was processing my application to foot the five bucks to open the account. I won’t put anything else in until I’m confident they haven’t messed up an account with their own supply of money in there. Plus, I’m looking forward to going in every week and waiting more than five minutes and getting my five bucks.
Other than that, my classes look pretty good this year. Lori and I are taking one on the history of movies. Every other class period we sit and watch movies. I should be in the college of communications. But, I am taking a game where I get to program games and stuff. So, as they get finished, I’ll post them on the site, and people can add feedback as to how they like them. It will be a good testing ground.
That’s about it from me right now. As I get more time, I’ll be posting some more fun reading articles. Until then, please feel free to send me whatever you find while surfing the web. It helps to make my job easier. If you don’t know what to say, just paste in a web link and I’ll take care of the rest.
