World Visitors
There have been some international hits on the site lately, which I find quite interesting, because I’m not sure who I would know in these different countries, but I think it’s cool that people from other places than the US are checking us out. There have been 15 different countries that I have gotten hits from, the most hits coming from Spain - three people and 15 page hits. Well, I find it interesting, so I thought I would throw it out.
Apple Picking
Today was a down-home fun time. This morning around 10:00 I, along with a whole bunch of friends, got up and went apple picking. It was a great deal. Lori and I picked about 15 pounds of apples and they only cost us $5. This means that it’s definitely time to bake some apple pie. Now, if I only had an apple peeler/corer/slicer, then I would be set.
After apple picking we went to a restaraunt that served crepes. They were really good - an ice cream crepe is definitely something that you don’t pass up. Mine had mint chocolate chip ice cream in it, with chocolate icing drizzled on the top and just enough whipped cream to make a dangerous blend. So, that’s about all that went on today. I got a free dinner in Cobeen tonight, as Rachelle was kind enough to swipe me for the choir dinner. I’m happy to meet all of the new people that are getting invovled in singing, particularly all the guys. I think that’s great the amount of people getting involved, because my Freshman year, there weren’t too many people that did get invovled within music ministry, and it was somewhat slim pickin’. So, that’s a good thing.
I think that’s about all for now. I hope that everyone had a great weekend. Next weekend is parent’s weekend, so I’m excited to see everyone. On top of that, it will be Brian’s birthday, so there may be a little party involved for that one!
9-28-02 Show up
Today’s show is up on the web. Check it out here. Thanks for everyone who called in, and Jon and I were very glad to find some Christian music in the studio!
What a fast week
Boy this past week went really fast. I think that it was the fastest week yet at Marquette. I was somewhat hoping for a slow week, but you can’t always get what you want, as the song says. But, all in all, I think the week went fairly well. Luckily, I didn’t have too much homework and am pretty caught up with most of my studies. I plan on taking the weekend to finish the catch-up to everything and to write a few papers that are due this upcoming week.
I was happy to find that I did well on my statistics test, but a little dissapointed at the same time beacuse I found out that I wasn’t chosen for a job I wanted. Back to the drawing board for that one. I’ve been calling a few more departments at Marquette, and I hope to find something soon. This weekend, Marquette is kicking off its Magis program, which is designed to raise lots of money for the university, so that they can pay for all of the stuff they want to build, like the Al McGuire center, an extension of Campus Town, another parking structure, the Raynor Library and if there’s any pittance left over, it can go into the scholarship fund. So, there are lots of activities happening this weekend, including a huge dinner or something over in front of LaLumiere hall, where they erected this big tent to hold a big party. Sounds like fun.
In coordination with the kick off of the Magis fundraiser, Marquette has taken the time to debut its new advertising campaign, with the slogan “Be the difference.” They actually have a professional PR firm working with them. (The head of the firm is a MU grad!) And I think that all of the promotional stuff that I have seen so far looks really great. Hopefully this will help drive up enrollment, but hopefully, Marquette will be able to handle the increased enrollment. I also understand that sometime soon the entire web page is going to go under a major overhaul and look even better than it does, with lots of interactive things to really give Marquette the edge. Stay tuned and I’ll update more later on!
Music and Monkeys
I think that every time I play Super Monkey Ball 2, the more I like it. Today, Jeff and I had a rousing game of Monkey Baseball and Monkey Soccer. I definitely can see challenges that will be issued over these two games, particularly Monkey Soccer. He beat me today, but not in the future. It’s training time!
In other news, I have my assignment three from my games class posted up. It details what my friend Carol and I are planning on putting together to make a game that’s based on Frogger. The important thing is that instead of a frog, we will have a fish that will have to swim through sharks. Lots of fun, and lots of programming, but I think it will be great! Finally, in the music realm, I have decided to start posting up some of the music that I have composed and will be composing. Currently, there is just the first psalm that I have written. You can check it out in the projects section of the website. There is a plugin that you will probably have to download to see the music, and that can be found in the downloads section. So, there’s now some music on the site.
