When technology fails
It’s always amazing what happens when technology fails. I spent a good 30 minutes yesterday talking with a vendor who put in my shower doors, because they claimed that the credit card charge hadn’t gone through and my card was being declined. Turns out that the charge did go through but the line dropped before the confirmation could be sent to the vendor’s machine. After making a number of calls between the credit card company and the vendor, everything worked its way out. Surprising how a misplaced carrier could cause that much trouble! If you’re looking to read more about these types of accidents, check out this book. In other news, I’m getting my storm door installed this afternoon, so I’m taking a late lunch at work. During lunch, I’ll be enjoying the comforts of my new furniture, which was delivered on Monday. I am planning on getting a few more pictures of the house up this weekend, so that I can show off the sofas and actually post some pictures of the outside of the house in its finished format.
By the way, sorry about not posting for a while. I realize that I missed last Friday’s humor link, but I figured it was the holidays, so I’m allowed one week off or so. Don’t worry, however, the links will resume next year, on January 2. Stay tuned… I’m working on a good one for you!
Driver’s Ed
This week, as a present to everyone, I have two games. The first is a driving test. Click here to find out how well you can actually drive. Good luck! I failed my first four times. Secondly, if driving is not your cup of tea, check out this game of 3-D pong. Pretty cool, but tough!
Swampland in Florida
I just have to post this so that other people can share in my humor. Below is the actual text from a piece of spam I received today.
I have seen some crazy spam, but this is the funniest. Anyone gullible enough to believe this one is just asking to be taken.
And, if you think that’s funny, try searching Google for “buy land on the moon.”
Subject: This is no joke, buy land on the MOON.
Each package contains the deed for one acre of land and it
lists the actual location of the property by quadrant,
latitude and longitude.
This really is legit, get land on the moon. You have all the rights to the minerals.
Give someone something unique this year for Christmas!
In my new house
Good morning, everyone. Today is a good day - I moved into my new house last night, which means that I woke up there this morning, and the Return of the King is in theaters. I plan on fully participating in both. Yesterday, we did a whole lot of moving things around so that Dan and I could take up residence in the new house. Last night, I did my first load of laundry and this morning, I’ll be having my first breakfast. It’s pretty exciting. In addition, I’ve never actually had a garage for my car, so I need to get used to not having to scrape the icicles off the car in the morning. This afternoon, I’ll be getting the garage door installed during my lunch hour. Hopefully, during that time, I’ll get a chance to take some pictures of the house with the digital camera and post them. Stay tuned!
