Paper Tossing
Ok, I found a really good game for this Friday’s humor link. Check out this game. You move the guy’s hand with your mouse and then click to catch the paper ball being thrown at you. I have to say that if this is not the perfect game for a Friday afternoon, then I don’t know what would qualify!
And, for those of you who get annoyed with the default sounds that come with Windows, check out this movie that someone did where they took some of those default sounds and turned them into a nice beat. It’s quite impressive. Enjoy and happy Friday!
Working late, with my airport express
This evening I knew I was going to have to work late to get some code finished up for tomorrow morning. So, I stopped by to see my friendly salesperson over at Microcenter. I have been popping in randomly over the past few weeks to see if they got any Airport Express devices in.
It turned out that today was just my luck, as they had one left. I figured that I have been working hard lately and I would be working hard tonight, so I’d reward myself a little bit and plunked down the cash for the device.
So, now I’m sitting the living room listening to streaming music from my computer and it sounds wonderful. Nothing like wirelessly networking the stereo into the rest of the house. For those who aren’t familiar with the Airport Express, it allows me to play music directly from my computer to the stero without using any wires. It’s much nicer and more convenient to control the stereo from my laptop when I’m programming.
Technical stuff - beware
I did run into a few problems with setting it up, however. I am currently using a security password on my wireless network, in hopes of deterring people wardriving around Kansas City. I found that in order to get the Airport Express to work correctly with my Linksys wireless router, I had to put a dollar sign before the WEP key. This was frustrating and it took about 30 minutes to figure this out. Unforunately, Apple did not document this very well, and it took quite a bit of searching (on the net and in the included PDF guides) to find that out. So, I thought that I would post that info up on the web for anyone else searching for a solution to the problem.
iTunes Mix
For those who don’t know, I am a very proud iPod owner. I like to think that I know everything about it with all the accessories and ways to do things on the iPod. So, naturally, this evening, I had to create my first iMix on the iTunes Music Store. I have been searching for quite a while to figure out what type of songs i would put up that would be completely different than anyone else posting iMixes. I finally came up with something - the songbook we use at mass! So, I took some time this evening and put together this iMix as a selection of songs that we use at Ascension Church.I’m pretty excited about it, and I hope that people who decide to listen to some of the songs really enjoy them. I enjoy playing them for everyone each Sunday. In fact, there were a lot of songs in the book that I don’t even know. I’m excited about buying a few songs every couple of weeks in order to learn them and re-introduce them to Asension. It should be really fun and hopefully will increase the collection of songs that we sing with currently. Of course, as I get time, I’ll keep the iMix updated, particularly as Apple adds more songs to iTunes. Hopefully I will eventually have a full list of songs.
Currently the Mix is at 70 songs, however, there are 125 songs in our book. Enjoy!
Friday Humor is Back!
Well, I’m back and kicking. I can assure everyone that I have not dropped off the face of the Earth just yet. I’ve just had some supre busy weeks at work. Anyways, I’ve found a great game that involves finding words in scrambled letters. I played it for about 10 minutes this evening and it was pretty fun. I highly recommend it, if you’re looking for something to keep you occupied on a Friday afternoon
In addition, since I feel bad about not putting up things over the past weeks, here’s an extra game. You use your arrow keys to keep away from the bombs. As you pick up other bubbles, your bubble gets larger. Finally, as added icing on the cake, if you haven’t seen the Terry Tate videos, here they are: Movie 1 and Movie 2. Nothing like having your own office linebacker!
