Canadair and GMail

Brought to you by Mustard and Green Olives
So, it looks like GMail went down for a bit today. I’m not exactly sure what it was, but of course, it went down exactly when I needed to use it. Luckily enough, after about 30 minutes later, the site came back up. It was a bit depressing, though. I got that feeling that the world was ending, kinda like the same feeling I got when Google went down that one day where there was an internet virus that pretty much executed a denial of service attack against the search engine. Yeah - I thought the world was truly ending then. But, I was lucky that I was wrong.

In other news, I booked my flights to go and see Jon and Megan in the middle of October. I get to fly from Kansas City to Dulles for about $170, which is pretty exciting, since it’s cheaper to fly there than to Baltimore, which is an hour away! However, I looked at my itinerary today and realized that I will be flying on a Canadair jet, using United Express, rather than the true United service with the big Boeing jets. So, I’ll be flying out there on a jet that maybe accomodates about 50 people, and was also built in Canada. It will be pretty fun. The last time that I flew on a small jet like that, it was flying out of Mexico City and we were delayed on the tarmac for about 30 minutes because there was a small earthquake while we were taxiing to the runway.

So, based upon my singular experience with a Jet, I’m not sure what to expect. I’m pretty excited about going to D.C. for a few days and seeing the sites. I’m definitely planning on taking lots of pictures, like a good American tourist!
