Well, it looks like my flight is delayed for about two more hours, so I am sitting in the Dulles Airport using my phone to post this. Nothing like going back to dial up net access. Oh well, at least it’s net access. If only my phone had more than an hour of talk time!
Oh well, I guess it’s nice to have the time to take in order to put up a few news posts on the website here. I will say that I do feel a bit bad for the United employees that have to deal with the irate customers who are very demanding. Turns out that they oversold the flight and need people to give up their seats, so of course, that adds in tons more frustration to everyone’s evening. Lots of fun!To any extent, to recap what I have done this weekend: Saturday involved going to all the different monuments around town (such as the Roosevelt, Lincoln, Jefferson and Einstein). Afterwards, we all met up with my friend, Mark, and spent a few hours in the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian, which was quite fun. Finally, we all went back to Jon and Megan’s apartment to enjoy some pizza and some card playing. I taught everyone the game “thirteen” which, as I understand, is the vienam national card game. It was pretty fun and we spent about three hours playing.
Sunday involved getting up early and attending mass at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Arlington. After mass, we went out to one of the local parks and grilled out in beautiful 50 degree weather, with a little bit of rain. It was a lot of fun, and I haven’t had a nice grilled brat in a while. Definitely a welcome thing around here. According to Megan, there is only one type of Johnsonville brat sold here. Amazing.
Finally, I’m sitting here in Dulles waiting for my airplane to come in. Turns out it’s a bit smaller plane, a 50 seater plane run by Mesa airlines. I just hope that I get to Kansas City sometime before tomorrow morning!
