Soapbox Wednesday

Where have I been for the past few weeks? Well, I’ve been working, espeically with my own site, cleaning up a few things. Since that site is my pride and joy, my blogging on other sites has gone down quite a bit.

Anyway, I’ve got a bit of a rant today, so without further ado, I willingly place my box of soap on the ground and take my step…

Complaining About the Weather
I normally don’t have any problems with people saying that they would like to see a little sun, however, recently, I heard someone complaning that the sun hadn’t come out this past Friday, when it was just starting to get cloudy.

My thoughts on this: Is it possible to give the weather a 24 hour period before you start griping about not seeing any sun? If it was sunny every day, I think life would get boring really fast. It’s nice to have changes in the weather and (maybe I’m in the minority here) I think that it’s nice to have a cloudy day here and there. Besides, if we didn’t have clouds, we couldn’t have rain and in turn, no rainbows.

Case in point: This past weekend, when we had our first thunderstorm of the season and all that awesome wind, I was out at Wal-Mart on metcalf. Right as I was walking into the building, I looked up and saw an absolutely beautiful rainbow. I was in just the right place to see the whole thing, stretching from left to right. It looked as if someone had taken the St. Louis arch, done a little amazing technicolor dreamcoat dance on it, and put it up right behind the building. I wish I had a camera, as it would have been a great picture.

In conclusion, if you’re going to complain about cloudy days, give the weather some leeway - it’s mother nature and your gripes aren’t going to make the sun come out. Besides, enjoy the rain, go outside, play in it, jump around, enjoy getting wet and then look for the rainbow, and thank God for the Earth’s beauty.
