Pushing Kindergartners…

On the merry-go-round, that is. Today has been a good day, after spending most of my morning getting confirmation letters out, so that the people who are supposed to know about confirmation now know about it again (or maybe for the first time, if they weren’t listening), I spent some time over in the school.

Today’s lunch was a veritable who’s who of school lunch tray occupants. And I quote: "Crispito, tator tots, cottage cheese, cauliflower, pineapple and milk." I challenge you to find one of those items that does not show up at least once a week on a lunch tray. Needless to say, lunch was good. I sat in the teacher’s lounge today and finally figured out what they all talk about. Today’s conversation centered around the things that the kids say and do during class that teachers want to laugh at but don’t or can’t at the current moment. It’s nice to see that they save them up for a more opportune time.

This week, archdiocese-wise, all the priests are on retreat, which means that those who go to daily mass are just left with a communion service to tide them over until the priests get back. There’s nothing like just having a communion service to help you appreciate the dignity and power of the Mass. Always a good thing.

Finally, my house has been challenged to a pumpkin carving competition. There is only one problem - you have to use your house’s name as part of the carving, and of course, my house hasn’t been named yet. Dan, Ryan and I are working on a name, but if you have any suggestions, leave them as a comment. Perhaps we’ll come up with a number of good names and then we’ll put those names up as a poll. That would be cool, then everyone could help with naming the house. So, leave your suggestions. Thanks!

Cookware

This morning, I am in search of a cooking supply warehouse, and I believe that I have located one. It is called Advanced Restaurant Supplies and is located over on Merriam Lane. I’m in search of a pizza peel and a few other items. I’ll let you know what I find.

In other news, the funeral for Jared Cheek was amazing. I think that Bishop Jim gave one of the best homilies that I have ever heard. The mass itself was wonderful (when is it not?)

Ok, so more updates soon!

Experimenting

I’ve been experimenting around with the site recently. There are probably two things that you have noticed - one is the presence of ads on the left hand side of the page. I’m not sure if I’ll keep them there or not. I’d like to generate a little bit of money to help pay to keep this site running, hence the ads.

Secondly, I have also enabled a way for people to have an editor for comments, much the same way that you can edit things in Word. Those areas now take the place of the little boxes you had previously for comments. To any extent, they are small cosmetic changes, but for the longest time, I have wanted to have a way for people to have a better input area for comments and blogs. So, there you go. Leave some comments as to what you think about the changes. Thanks!

Weblinks working again

Well, it looks like the links at the top of the page stopped working. Go figure. Well, I fixed those up tonight. Sorry to everyone who might have been actually trying to use my site the way it was designed. I had just planned on keeping things broken for a while… :-)

Matty’s funeral

Well, we had Matty’s funeral today out at St. Ann in Prairie Village. It was a very good and fitting funeral, with about 100 priests in attendance. The music was excellent - something that Matty would have appreciated very much.

All in all, it was a decent day. I shuttled a few friends around to and from the funeral and we all had a great time talking and reminiscing about a wonderful friend.

I hope that your week is starting off well and, as Matty would say, please take some time right now to say Hi to God.
