Pushing Kindergartners…

On the merry-go-round, that is. Today has been a good day, after spending most of my morning getting confirmation letters out, so that the people who are supposed to know about confirmation now know about it again (or maybe for the first time, if they weren’t listening), I spent some time over in the school.

Today’s lunch was a veritable who’s who of school lunch tray occupants. And I quote: "Crispito, tator tots, cottage cheese, cauliflower, pineapple and milk." I challenge you to find one of those items that does not show up at least once a week on a lunch tray. Needless to say, lunch was good. I sat in the teacher’s lounge today and finally figured out what they all talk about. Today’s conversation centered around the things that the kids say and do during class that teachers want to laugh at but don’t or can’t at the current moment. It’s nice to see that they save them up for a more opportune time.

This week, archdiocese-wise, all the priests are on retreat, which means that those who go to daily mass are just left with a communion service to tide them over until the priests get back. There’s nothing like just having a communion service to help you appreciate the dignity and power of the Mass. Always a good thing.

Finally, my house has been challenged to a pumpkin carving competition. There is only one problem - you have to use your house’s name as part of the carving, and of course, my house hasn’t been named yet. Dan, Ryan and I are working on a name, but if you have any suggestions, leave them as a comment. Perhaps we’ll come up with a number of good names and then we’ll put those names up as a poll. That would be cool, then everyone could help with naming the house. So, leave your suggestions. Thanks!
