Yesterday morning, I was able to make it out to the Chancery and spend some time with the vocations office. There were a number of different high schools that sent students to come up for the chrism mass and to hear about vocations. Fr. Brian showed an amazing new video from the National Conference of Catholic Bishops about vocations. It’s entitled "Fishers of Men," and you can find the link here.
Secondly, I was able to join in the chrism mass, which is a special mass during Holy Week where the Archbishop blesses the new oils that are used for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders and Anointing of the Sick. It was a spectacular mass, with 3 bishops, 1 abbott and around 130 priests in attendance. In addition, I was able to witness all the priests for the Archdiocese renew their vows of service to the church. It was beautiful.
After my visit to the Abbey, watching the vocations video and seeing all the priests renew their vows, I’m excited to be praying for my own vocation and journey. Please pray for your parish priest and your bishop, that they may continue their service and help renew the world!
